Skitchine News
Ahh June… from floods to fires (I think locusts are next?).
The washouts from all the flooding are slowly getting fixed, now we are into
fire season! So far the lodge and surrounding area are in no danger from any of
the current fires (touch wood all). And hopefully by next newsletter we’ll be
talking about all the rain up here. Never thought I’d say that before!
Despite Mother Nature we have had a beautiful June up here.
Started off the year with Brendan Morrison, ex-Canuck great, filming his new TV
show Reel West Coast here at Skitchine. Brendan had excellent fishing, landing
25 10 – 18 inchers on Lloyd, then becoming our slabmaster with a 21” on, you
guessed it, Bob’s, followed the next day by Bruce Kenny’s 22” on… yes Bob’s.
Only to be beaten an hour later by Dwight Jefferson’s 23” on… wait for it…
Bob’s! Brendan’s show will air sometime next year. Some video clips are
available now on YouTube.
Right after taking Brendan and his crew out, I picked up
Terry David Mulligan and his crew. We are the true Hollywood North! Terry’s
show Talk Room Radio went great and is available now on tastingroomradio.com.
Well the trails are cut, some already twice, new railings
going down to the gazebo, and everyone’s hard at work cleaning and maintaining
the paradise we have here. So hope to see you up here soon. Here’s to a great
July and beyond! Plenty of openings still available in August. Let’s use up
these option days!
It is with great sadness that Tania and I say goodbye to a
true gentleman and pioneer of Skitchine lodge, Dr. Cal Evans. I do not believe
any of us would be able to enjoy the peace and beauty of Skitchine lodge
without Cal’s vision and dedication to this place. He will be dearly missed and
we hope that we can carry on his passion and devotion for Skitchine.
May your nets always be full,
Mark and Tania
